in the darkest hours, 2018

Like many countries, domestic violence is a significant issue in Nepal.
My visual story traces a Government initiative – the One Stop Crisis Management Centre (OCMC) – which aims at streamlining support for survivors of domestic violence in sixteen centers across the country.

Each center aims to provide an integrated package of services including health care, counselling, access to safe homes, legal protection, personal security and vocational skills training.

However, my research shows that rather than u2018One Stopu2019 management, survivors must travel to many different locations around the city to access support. Despite this, OCMCs have provided essential services for the (mostly) women who access these centers.

My work is a quiet meditation on the stark spaces that survivors must occupy, in the darkest hours, whilst awaiting care.
